Nine community groups received funding that totalled more than $25,000 as part of Round Two of Hepburn Shire’s 2024 Community Grants program.
Mayor, Cr Brian Hood, said he was very pleased to award these funds to hard working community groups who are an essential part of the fabric of our shire.
“It brings our total funding to community organisations so far this year to over $150,000.”
Councillors met with representatives from the successful community groups at an event in Creswick last week, where each person spoke about the work of their group.
The recipients were the Drummond Hall Committee who will use their $5000 for film projection equipment, St John’s Ambulance Victoria Daylesford Division who received $1225 to replace equipment; Anglicare Victoria - Creswick Emergency Food Relief and Community Meals, and Anglicare Victoria - the Clunes Clinic and Drop-in Program for Emergency relief, each received $2000; Hepburn Wholefoods Collective will buy a freezer for $2531.54, while Trentham Youth Group received $5000; the Queer Book Club in Daylesford received $2500; and the Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club received $5000 for equipment.
“The foundation of a strong community is the people within it. We hope these funds go some way to helping these volunteer groups continue their good work, which supports many aspects of Shire life,” said Cr Hood.
James Maher from the Mt Prospect and District Tennis Association hosted the event and spoke of the tennis club’s history and progress, outlining a clear vision for its future. He thanked Council for their continued support and advised that the Association will use their $600 grant funds to replace some of the nets on the hardcourt.
Successful applicants for Round Three of the 2023/2024 Community Grants will be notified shortly.
