The Town of Cambridge has officially partnered with Activ Foundation for the 2024 Chevron City to Surf, the popular community annual fun run that raises vital funds to support thousands of Western Australians living with disability.
2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic event, which has concluded at the picturesque City Beach since the City to Surf began in 1974. Mayor Gary Mack hopes the anniversary will mark the most memorable City to Surf yet.
“City to Surf holds a special place in people’s hearts, with City Beach serving as its iconic finish line since 1974,” he said.
“We are proud to once again support the great work of Activ Foundation and create opportunities for residents and visitors to engage, celebrate, and showcase the vibrant spirit of our Town. It is especially exciting to support the event in its 50th year and we are proud to have such a long association with the event and with Activ.”
At its April 2024 Ordinary Council Meeting, the Council unanimously voted to allocate just over $28,000 in the 2024/2025 budget, plus fee waivers and other in-kind support in sponsorship of the upcoming Chevron City to Surf event, reflecting a near $84,000 total value.
The sponsorship confirms the Town's dedication to supporting this high-profile community event which raises funds for Wembley based Activ Foundation, encourages our community to come together and showcases the iconic City Beach precinct to thousands of visitors to the Town.
Together with Activ, the Town is encouraging locals to get involved in this milestone event in any way they can. Whether it’s registering as an individual or team, supporting the fundraising efforts, celebrating with family friendly activities at the finish line, or even decorating your driveway if you are along the route.
Staff and Elected Members of the Town will also participate in the event as ‘Team Cambridge’; walking, running, or rolling alongside an anticipated 20,000 participants taking part this year. The 2024 Chevron City to Surf takes place on Sunday, 25 August 2024.
Registrations are currently open for the 4km and 12km courses. For more information and registration details, visit www.perthcitytosurf.com
