The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra preliminary works to begin

Preliminary work associated with construction of The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra is underway.

To be incorporated into the Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library, this contemporary designed, fully accessible facility will support the growing needs of community groups and library programs.

“The start of these preliminary works is a major milestone for this project, which will create a regionally unique space this area has needed for many years,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“Once completed, The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra will be able to accommodate events, gatherings and workshops offering a larger than current community meeting spaces, whilst incorporating technology required for modern meetings, conferences and training sessions.

“The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra will also support the Gannawarra Library Service to plan and deliver a broader range of programs for young people such as movie making, sound and music recording.”

As part of the preliminary work, solar arrays located in the area to the west of the library site will be removed, enabling drainage and foundation development to occur in the coming weeks.

“Council thanks visitors to the Sir John Gorton Library whilst these works occur, and will advise when access to this popular facility may be impacted,” Mr Rollinson said.

The $3.07 million The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra project is supported by $1.5 million from the State Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program and $718,000 from the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
