Youth Forum
Yass Valley Council is excited to announce the upcoming Youth Forum at Yass High School, scheduled for Monday, 3rd June 2024. This initiative aims to engage with local youth and address their concern, ideas, and aspirations.
Earlier this year, we distributed a survey to the students at Yass High School and received an overwhelming response with over 250 submissions. Based on this feedback, we have selected 150 students to participate in the forum, ensuring a diverse and representative group.
This forum will feature esteemed guests from Youth Action, Headspace, and a financial consultant, who will be available to provide valuable insights and support throughout the day. These organisations will help facilitate discussions and provide resources on various youth-related issues.
Our objectives for the forum include gathering feedback on pressing youth issues, discussing potential projects, and exploring ideas for future holiday activities.
We believe this forum will be a significant step towards understanding and addressing the needs of our young community members.
In addition to these important discussions, the day will include engaging activities designed to make the event enjoyable and memorable for all participants.

Regional Drought Resilience Plan
In response to environmental challenges, Yass Valley is working on the development of a Regional Drought Resilience plan alongside Queanbeyan-Palerang and Snowy-Monaro.
A Regional Drought Resilience Plan aims to identify innovative approaches to address the impacts of drought to ensure our communities are well equipped to face the challenges drought and climate vulnerability can bring.
This Program is a collaborative effort between the Commonwealth Government’s Future Drought Fund and the NSW Government’s Regional Growth Fund.
The Plan aims to empower our region to withstand the impacts of droughts, beyond water and farming; it’s about safeguarding the livelihoods, wellbeing and the future of our community.
Your input will shape the Plan and will guide the development of strategies to build resilience within our communities.
