Parramatta’s Riverside Theatres is the toast of the Australian online world after winning the 2024 Australian Web Award for the entertainment and events category.
Riverside Theatres’ website, which was developed by City of Parramatta in conjunction with Jala Design, was selected ahead of the Sydney Opera House, Brisbane Powerhouse and Hoyts Cinemas.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Pierre Esber said the award was recognition of the hard work Riverside Theatres puts into to providing the best in venue and at home customer experience.
“Riverside Theatres is the home of the performing arts and culture in the heart of Parramatta and our team works hard to attract audiences through a variety of channels including its impressive website,” Cr Esber said.
“Our website provides a window to the world of the more than 750 events a year on offer at Riverside and helps drive more than 180,000 visitors a year to our City.”
Each entry is judged on six disciplines: design, development, user experience, content, accessibility and search engine optimisation (SEO).
Riverside Theatres Director Craig McMaster said it’s a proud achievement.
“Winning the Best Website in the Entertainment category at the 2024 Australian Web Awards is a testament to our team's passion for creative excellence,” Mr McMaster said.
“Our new site was a labour of love to create a best-in-class and accessible online experience for our patrons and visitors.
“We are thrilled to be recognised for making Riverside Theatres a digital destination that is as welcoming and engaging as our in in venue spaces."
The Riverside Theatres website attracts over 750,000 online visitors each year. Online and digitally delivered ticket sales account for more than 85 per cent of total sales annually.
The win comes hot on the heels of the announcement of the winning designs for the $188M redevelopment of Riverside Theatres, which will see the venue double its capacity and welcome more than 400,000 visitors a year when the reimagined theatres open in early 2028.
