Families looking for a variety of school holiday activities on offer this July will benefit from two weeks of events planned by the Gannawarra Library Service.
Four free activities will be on offer between 2-11 July at the service’s Cohuna and Kerang branches, catering for children of all ages.
“The Gannawarra Library Service’s dedicated staff have put together another exciting school holiday program, which will benefit locals and visitors to the area,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
The highlight of the school holiday program is Teddy Bear Story Time sessions occurring at the Cohuna Library on Thursday, 4 July from 4pm and Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Wednesday, 10 July from 4pm.
As part of these special events, participants are encouraged to dress up in their pyjamas and bring along their teddy bears for an afternoon of songs and stories. Hot chocolates and biscuits will also be served. Following each session, participants will be able to leave their teddy bear at the library overnight for a special sleepover.
“It has been many years since the library service has held Teddy Bear Story Time sessions, which were a very popular event and are predicted to be just as popular this time around,” Mr Rollinson said.
Children aged five years and older will enjoy two craft sessions occurring at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library – porcelain mug decorating, occurring on Tuesday, 2 July from 10.30am and 2.30pm, and finger knitting, occurring on Thursday, 11 July from 10.30am – with all materials provided.
Children of all ages will also be able to participate in a morning of various craft activities occurring at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Tuesday, 9 July from 10.30am.
Bookings for all sessions are essential, with all children participating to be accompanied by an adult.
In a first for the library service, bookings for all events will be available online, which can be done by clicking on Children and Early Years heading at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/libraries. Alternatively, families can phone the Gannawarra Library Service on (03) 5452 1546 for assistance.
