Tatyoon Sports Oval will soon receive substantial upgrades, as highlighted in Ararat Rural City Council's 2024/25 Draft Budget.

These improvements works will include surface upgrades to the existing AFL and cricket oval, the construction of cricket wickets, as well as new line markings and improved irrigation and drainage, which will enhance the quality of the playing surface and reduce maintenance requirements.

The $330,000 project is scheduled to be completed between October 2024 and January 2025 and is supported by an $80,000 contribution from Ararat Rural City Council, together with $250,000 in grant funding allocated under the Victorian State Government’s Country Football and Netball Program.

This program is part of a $2.5 million Victorian State Government initiative to assist regional football and netball clubs, associations, and umpiring organisations to develop their facilities, and is delivered in partnership with the AFL, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria.

“These comprehensive upgrade works are aimed at revitalising Tatyoon Sports Oval into a premier sporting venue within our community and mark a significant step forward in our commitment to supporting local sports and community engagement.” says Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison.
