The Town of Cambridge is inviting community feedback on the Draft Lake Monger (Galup) Management Plan 2024-2034 and Draft Lake Monger (Galup) Master Plan 2024-2034, which will guide activities and projects within the reserve over the next ten years. Developed in consultation with Whadjuk Noongar Traditional Owners and Elders, these plans aim to ensure effective environmental management and replace previous plans for the reserve.
Lake Monger, known to the Whadjuk Noongar people as Galup (meaning home fire or location of home), is proposed to be renamed “Galup” as requested by the Whadjuk Noongar Registered Knowledge Holders and Council. The Management Plan details the objectives, strategies, and tasks needed for environmental management, while the Master Plan provides a visual representation of proposed activities and their locations.
Your input is valuable. To participate, visit the Town of Cambridge’s website or call (08) 9347 6000. The survey closes on 15 July, so make sure to have your say and help shape the future of this important regional open space.
This initiative reflects the Town's commitment to preserving heritage, enhancing environmental outcomes, and fostering community involvement. Your feedback will play a crucial role in guiding the future of Lake Monger (Galup) for the next decade.
