The inspections assist Council to understand and improve how our community uses their bins so that teams can support residents, ratepayers and holidaymakers to reduce the amount of waste that is directed to landfill.
Contractors have been engaged to undertake the inspections and will do so by lifting the bin lid and visually inspecting contents for incorrect and hazardous items. They will also identify the volume of the bin.
The inspection will take place from the kerbside of randomly selected properties the evening before the day of their normal bin collection.
As a result, no action is required. To avoid impacting normal behaviours, households will not be notified if they are randomly selected.
This inspection will take place during July and follows a previous inspection conducted in January 2024 during the summer period. The data collected will provide Council with necessary information to track seasonal trends.
The information will be collected, analysed and reported in an aggregated form, so no individual household or personal information will be captured or shared.
Conditions of the inspection prohibit reporting of any specific details related to any individual household or personal information.
Any questions can be directed to Council by contacting 03 5755 0555 or [email protected].
