The City of Albany is bringing the next instalment of the popular Maritime Festival to Albany this July with music, art, cinema, shanty singing and workshops for the whole family.
Following the success of Foreshore Friday in 2023, the party is coming back to the Albany Boat Shed in 2024, inviting audiences to enjoy live music, food trucks and a music festival vibe on 28 June.
The very next day, All at Sea Saturday takes place with cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, and art workshops for the whole family.
Maritime Movies at the Albany Town Hall invite families to relax and enjoy the stories of Finding Dory, Free Willy, Peter Pan and Lilo & Stitch on 2 and 10 July at 11am and 2pm.
For the music lovers among us, the International Folk n’ Shanty Festival will satisfy all tastes from 5-7 July featuring a line-up of incredible local and interstate acts at the Albany Town Hall.
Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre is on board when a Mermaid takes over the kid’s pool on 28 June before an exciting pool party for kids over 8 years old kicks off on 12 July, and Pirates & Mermaids kids gym gets underway on 22 and 25 July.
On 25 July, the Albany Public Library invites you to experience the breathtaking film, Blueback, a captivating journey alongside a wild blue grouper that promises an unforgettable viewing experience.
The film fiesta continues on 25 July when Albany Town Hall screens Facing Monsters, a documentary that delves into the mind of West Australian 'slab wave' surfer Kerby Brown.
Museum of the Great Southern and Discovery Bay is joining the crew and showcasing a variety of maritime themed activities and events to satisfy every little sailor’s imagination.
Local youth will also take to the Albany Town Hall for the Maritime Youth Markets, selling their homemade goods to shoppers on 13 July.
Manager Community Relations Elise van Gorp said this year’s Festival is packed with entertainment.
“Visitors to the Maritime Festival are encouraged to embrace the cosy weather and attend as many maritime themed events as possible,” she said.
“The City is grateful to have the support of Tourism Western Australia and Road Safety Commission in assisting the City to deliver the popular Maritime Festival 2024 to locals and visitors.”
