Cambridge at 30: Planning for Generations Ahead

As the Town of Cambridge celebrates its 30th year, we reflect on three decades of connecting communities from the inner city to the beach.

Throughout this time, community feedback has shaped our initiatives and targets, benefiting our people, economy, neighbourhoods, environment, and Council. This collaboration has created a distinctive and thriving destination in Western Australia.

“Guided by our Strategic Community Plan 2023-33, we unite our Council, Administration, and Community to create a promising and sustainable future,” Mayor Gary Mack said.

The Corporate Business Plan 2023/24-2026/27 details the actions, projects, and programmes that will achieve the community’s vision, aligning the Town’s operational activities with community priorities. This plan is supported by the Strategic Resource Plan (formerly Long-Term Financial Plan), Asset Management Strategy, Local Planning Strategy, Workforce Plan, and other strategies.

“The Town will continue to create inclusive, safe, and welcoming neighbourhoods that retain our unique character and heritage. We promote a healthy and active lifestyle for future generations, as we have over the past three decades.”

Mayor Mack also highlighted the importance of maintaining and improving the Town’s destinations, which draw visitors and boost the local economy.

“We are committed to enhancing Wembley Golf Course, the Quarry Amphitheatre, Bold Park Aquatic, West Leederville, and the natural beauty of City Beach and Floreat,” he added.

“Protecting our environment and responding to climate change are high priorities. We aim to operate sustainably and provide opportunities for our community to do the same.”

In addition, the Town strives to be a transparent, accountable organisation with a culture of continuous improvement.

“We will continue to seek opportunities to generate commercial revenue to ensure the long-term financial stability of the Town. Engaging with our community and building partnerships is essential as we make decisions that impact us all.

The Town’s priorities include customer-centric decision-making, improving reliability and safety, cost-effectiveness, investing in its people, and leveraging technology for better results.

“Local government plays a crucial role in our communities,” Mayor Mack emphasised.

“The Town of Cambridge is dedicated to evolving and delivering the best liveable suburbs through strategic, cost-effective management of resources and an enhanced daily experience. We look forward to building on our successes and embracing the future together.”
