The previously rundown clubrooms have been completely refurbished, turning a facility that was no longer fit for purpose into a vibrant hub for the local community.
Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr John Forsyth, said this project was made possible thanks to a partnership between the Savoy Soccer Club and Alpine Shire Council, with grant funding received from the Australian Government.
"The Savoy Soccer Club has always been a cornerstone of our community, bringing people together through the universal language of soccer," he said.
"This refurbishment project, supported by the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program, has not only revitalised the club's facilities but has also strengthened the bond within our community.
"We are immensely proud of the effort and dedication shown by the Soccer Club committee members and the project management team at Council in making this project a reality."
The project involved extensive refurbishment of the Soccer Club building, including crucial upgrades to the pitch lighting and irrigation system, and the addition of much-needed equipment storage.
These improvements have transformed the clubrooms into a warm, welcoming space, significantly upgrading the change rooms and kitchen.
The kitchen is now even better equipped to serve both club members and visitors.
Cr Forsyth said the refurbishment has also created a fantastic meeting and conference room, which will not only benefit the club but also serve the wider community by providing a space that can be hired out for various events.
"The refurbishment of the Savoy Soccer Club has already created immense benefits for the community, ensuring that this beloved institution will continue to thrive and bring people together for years to come," he said.
"And speaking of bringing people together, we hope you can all join us at the Official Opening to help celebrate this milestone achievement, and enjoy having a look around this incredible facility."
The official opening will take place at 10am on Friday, 12 July, at the Savoy Soccer Club located at 256 Great Alpine Rd, Myrtleford, and will include an official opening ceremony, a tour of the updated facilities, and light refreshments.
