NAIDOC Week 2024 will be held from Sunday 7 July to Sunday 14 July. This annual celebration honours the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
During NAIDOC Week, various activities and events will occur across the Shire, including sporting activities, Elders luncheon, family fun days, cultural events, and more.
If you’re interested in learning more or participating, head off to one of the many events planned.
The theme for this year, chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud”. It symbolises the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture, with fire representing a connection to Country, each other, and the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
