Council will begin a multi-million suite of works to repair major landslips along Lake Morris Road.
The road was extensively damaged as a result of heavy rainfall and flooding associated with Tropical Cyclone Jasper in December 2023.
The works will include the construction of five retaining structures along the road where the embankment has failed.
To assist with repair costs, Council recently submitted a $4.35 million grant application to the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, a joint Commonwealth and State government funding stream that provides financial assistance to help communities recover from eligible disasters.
The $4.35 million cost is an estimate as definitive costs will be governed by numerous factors, including final designs.
Works are scheduled to be completed in June 2026, weather permitting.
