From Emerald Saleyards Trainee to Manager

Posted on July 11, 2024

When Bronwyn Roberts started as a trainee superintendent at the Emerald Saleyards in 2002, she had no idea she was kickstarting a career that would eventually lead her to run the facility.

The Emerald local’s professional life came full circle this month with her appointment as Saleyards Manager, following the retirement of Timothy Maguire.

Recognised as a leader in agriculture, Ms Roberts brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the livestock industry to the role.

‘I see the Emerald Saleyards as a vital piece of regional and industry infrastructure,’ she said.

‘Taking on this role is a unique opportunity to encompass my passion for the industry, use my practical and professional experience, and channel my diverse skill set to maximise the potential of the facility.

‘I am passionate about the beef industry, committed to the Central Highlands region, my home, and excited by the opportunity to be part of the thriving, efficient and progressive saleyards.’

Saleyards Advisory Committee Chair Councillor Robert Donaldson thanked Mr Maguire for his service and welcomed Ms Roberts to the role.

‘The Emerald Saleyards plays a crucial role in connecting sellers, buyers, and agents across Central Queensland to domestic, live export, and international markets,’ he said.

‘Bronwyn has a clear love for the land and cattle, and an impressive resume of achievements and experience. We’re excited to have her on board and look forward to working with her and the team to continue the good work that Tim has done.

‘On behalf of council and the Saleyards Advisory Committee, I wish Tim all the best in the future and welcome Bronwyn to the team.’
