We pride ourselves on helping people understand and navigate Tasmania’s complex land use planning system, making it easier for applicants to undertake appropriate use and development in a sustainable manner, and ensuring community needs are considered in that process. 

Council is seeking an enthusiastic and solutions-focused Planning Officer who will get a kick out of supporting sustainable growth in Tasmania’s Central Coast. 

The Planning Officer position contributes to the Council’s Development Support team, whose function is to deliver strategic planning, statutory planning and enforcement processes which: 

provide for the sustainable, fair and orderly use and development of natural and physical resources;  encourage public involvement; and  facilitate economic development.

Essential:  Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in land use planning or a related field and a demonstrated “solutions focus” including the ability to work with applicants to help them understand their options for achieving compliance. 

Salary and conditions:  Full-time position.  Central Coast Council’s Enterprise Agreement – Professional Officer Level 1.2 – 1.6 ($74,254 – $86,434). Remuneration will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
