Olympic fever has hit Wyndham City! Residents inspired by the Games can participate in ‘come and try’ sessions that are being offered from 26 July to 8 September.
Wyndham City’s Mayor, Cr Jennie Barrera, said the ‘come and try’ sessions offer a taste of sports that feature in the Olympics and Paralympics.
“The sessions include, but are not limited to, athletics, gymnastics, table tennis and taekwondo – our website will hold the full range of sessions,” she said.
“We look forward to our community being inspired by the Paris Olympics and Paralympics and making the most of the ‘come and try’ sessions that are on offer in Wyndham.”
“We’re keen to involve the little ones too in the Olympic fever – colouring-in sheets depicting sports can be downloaded from our website and once completed, dropped at Council-managed Community Centres where they will be displayed for the whole community to enjoy.”
“Families can enjoy Olympic themed story time at three of our libraries – Tarneit, Point Cook and Manor Lakes.”
“It is wonderful to know that Wyndham clubs and providers have nurtured athletes who will be competing in the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, representing Australia at one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events.”
“We’ve listed those athletes who are connected to Wyndham and will be competing in the Olympics and Paralympics on our website, to help you follow along and support them.”
In the spirit of the Olympics and Paralympics, Reclink Australia are collecting quality, new and used sporting equipment to provide to disadvantaged Australians to help improve their participation in sport.
