Rush don’t walk, Rush Festival is back in 2024!

The Charters Towers Rush Festival is back in 2024, bringing a jam-packed weekend for all ages to the region.

Friday, 11 October will see the return of the Twilight Markets, delivering a night of craft, workshops, shopping, and live music under the stars.

The Goldrush Concert kicking off on Saturday, 12 October will bring the Charters Towers Showgrounds to life.

An event for all ages will see Townsville band Shots Fired back for a third year, joined by Rogue Traders, Thirsty Merc, and Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows for what is bound to be one epic day turn to night.

Cr Julie Mathews noted she was excited for this year's event, to be more than just music.

“Children can enjoy the live music from the Windlab Kids Entertainment Centre, while mum and dad can listen on from the XXXX Gold Beer Garden.

“Festival goers from previous years requested more food options, and this year we are excited to deliver the Salt Lane Food Court, bringing something for everyone.

Sunday, 13 October will see the return of Towers Rush, celebrating its 10th year.

“Previous years have seen competitors abseiling from water tanks, constructing food masterpieces and paddling down the Burdekin”, said Cr Mathews.

“Towers Rush always brings the town to life, a great end to a massive weekend for the community.

“The Rush Festival is about more than bringing big acts to town, the economic benefits delivered to the town across the weekend are substantial.”

The countdown to the Rush Festival weekend is officially on, with Council hosting a range of lead up events for the local community.

The Ride to School event returns across two weeks, led by the Charters Towers Police Service and the Towers Rush Committee.

“Ride to school allows children to get active while learning basic road rules in a safe and controlled environment”, said Cr Mathews.

“Towers Rush will be hosting a Towers Hill Fun Run/Walk event, a celebration of Towers Hill as an icon of Charters Towers.

“This is an event for all ages, with 2 kilometre and 5 kilometre options available, as well as various categories.”

Both Towers Rush lead up events are free for the community, however, registrations are essential for both and can be made via Council’s website.
