Wyndham City 25 Jul 2024

Wyndham City continues to deliver exceptional arts and cultural programs, the latest is the inaugural artist-in-residence program, ‘Create [SPACE]’ that enables four local artists to develop their craft and reach local audiences.

The program gives artists a space to work, a small grant and support by the Wyndham Arts and Culture team over a three-month period from July to September.

The program will be run at Dianella Community Centre, Tarneit; Werribee Historical Society, Werribee; Featherbrook Community Centre, and Point Cook Library, Point Cook.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Jennie Barrera, said the program was of benefit to the participating artists and the general community.

“This residency program will connect Wyndham artists with local communities and spaces across the city,” she said.

The program provides artists an opportunity to develop their arts practice in a supported way, gives the community a way to engage with art making processes and complements the range of activities and experiences available in our community centres across the city.”

“At the completion of the residencies the artists will showcase their work, giving our community increased opportunities to enjoy the arts at locations they can easily access – perhaps they will inspire the next generation of artists.”

“Our arts and cultural program is in keeping with the Wyndham vision to provide arts and cultural opportunities for everyone to experience throughout the municipality.”
