Perth, often referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Heritage Highway Region’, is situated 20 kilometres southeast of Launceston in the Northern Midlands Municipality. Known for offering an affordable rural lifestyle, Perth is conveniently close to Launceston Airport, Launceston town, and the TRANSlink precinct.
Perth is a ‘town on the grow’, with an increasing population and several major subdivisions underway and in the pipeline. As part of Perth’s Structure Plan, initiated in March 2017, the town aims to rejuvenate its main streets by capitalizing on existing assets, improving urban design and landscaping, and addressing traffic management and vulnerable road user safety concerns.
Phase 1 included the $420,000 Perth Main Street Stormwater upgrade and $880,000 of kerbs and footpath was completed. Building on this success, the Council is now progressing with phase 2 of the improvement program for the Main Street upgrade starting in August 2024.
This project marks a significant step in enhancing the infrastructure and overall appeal of Perth, ensuring it remains a vibrant and thriving community for both residents and visitors.
