Lagoon to reopen following routine maintenance

The Cairns Esplanade Lagoon will reopen on Monday 5 August, following its biennial maintenance program.

Today, Council started the enormous job of refiling the lagoon after it was drained on 8 July to allow the maintenance works to proceed.

Maintenance works undertaken included repairs and upgrades to the pool’s surface, pump systems and amenities, as well as sand replenishment and cleaning and polishing of the fish structures.

From Monday the lagoon will be open seven days a week, Thursday to Tuesday from 6am to 9pm, and from midday to 9pm on Wednesday to allow for weekly maintenance.
