Changes to Council's Community Satisfaction Survey

Published on 05 August 2024

Gannawarra Shire Council is implementing changes to its annual Community Satisfaction Survey to ensure Council has a better understanding of the issues residents are concerned about.

Conducted by independent market research agency National Field Service, the survey helps participating councils to identify areas where it can improve its performance.

“For more than a decade, the Community Satisfaction Survey has helped Council keep connected with residents’ needs and identify areas where we can do better,” Mayor Ross Stanton said.

“The 2024 survey, conducted earlier this year, showed that our overall performance has been consistent throughout this current term of Council and is significantly higher than the results of four years ago, but we can always do better.”

As part of changes to the survey, telephone interviews will now be conducted every three months, with 200 interviews involving people aged 18 years and over to be conducted randomly from Thursday, 15 August. Similar interviews involving 100 people contacted randomly will occur during October-December 2024 and January-March 2025.

“By spreading the interviews across the year, Council will be able to better gauge residents perceptions of the services we provide,” Mayor Stanton said.

“Receiving these results through interviews taken across 12 months will enable Council to better work on improving our relationship with you, our residents.”

Residents who choose to take part in the survey will be asked to assess Council’s overall performance, how it engages with the community, how it communicates with residents, and its decision-making performance.

The survey also features questions specifically relating to community services, customer service, libraries recreation facilities, roads and waste management.

“The updated version of the survey will also enable residents to identify which local roads they are most concerned about, with Council able to use this data to improve roads we manage and advocate for improvements to occur on Regional Roads Victoria-managed roads,” Mayor Stanton said.

“Council appreciates the time taken by those residents who participate in the survey, and value the feedback provided.”
