City of Wanneroo Director of Corporate Strategy and Performance, Noelene Jennings, has been recognised at WALGA’s 2024 Local Government Awards (Honours Program).

City of Wanneroo Director of Corporate Strategy and Performance, Noelene Jennings, has been recognised at WALGA’s 2024 Local Government Awards (Honours Program).

Ms Jennings received the Local Government Distinguished Officer Award, which recognises local government officers who have provided an outstanding contribution to the sector. A well-deserved acknowledgement for Ms Jennings 30 years of service to the WA local government sector.

Ms Jennings has been an integral member of the City’s executive team for the better part of a decade in the role of Director of Corporate Strategy and Performance, and has overseen the directorate with strong leadership and organisational integrity that has carried through not only the organisation, but also the community.

Former Wanneroo Councillor, Frank Cvitan, was also honoured with the WALGA Life Membership award, for his 22 years of service and advocacy to the City of Wanneroo.

First elected to the Council in 1999 and again from 2011, Mr Cvitan dedicated a total of 22 years of service to the City and to the broader Wanneroo community.

He also undertook other significant roles during this time, including Deputy Mayor from 2019 to 2021, WALGA State Councillor and delegate to the Mindarie Regional Council (MRC), Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) and WALGA North Metropolitan Zone.

City of Wanneroo Deputy Mayor, James Rowe, attended the WALGA awards night on behalf of Council and congratulated Ms Jennings and Mr Cvitan on their significant achievements.

“It was a great pleasure nominating these outstanding individuals,” he said.

“It’s important that we recognise and celebrate those who are dedicated to making significant contributions across our City and the wider local government sector.

“Ms Jennings recently displayed her exemplary leadership through the City’s response and recovery to the Mariginiup bushfires in late 2023.

“Acting in the role of CEO at the time, she led the organisation through a vulnerable time with compassion, poise, and professionalism.

“Having personally served two years on Council with Mr Cvitan, I am grateful for the mentorship role he demonstrated, sharing stories and guidance based on his many years of experience in the local government sector.

“This award is a real testament to his character, particularly his wisdom and guidance for fellow elected members and the community he served.”
