New benches unveiled in Gemfields

The Central Highlands Regional Council has unveiled an additonal two new red benches at Sapphire and Rubyvale on 25 July 2024.
All together, there are now 4 red benches located across the region at the Emerald Library, Blackwater Rotary Park, Sapphire Skate Park and Rubyvale Flats.
Mayor Janice Moriarty said the installation of red benches was committed to by council and aims to raise awareness about all forms of violence, especially domestic and family violence.
‘The benches remind us that everyone can play a role in making our communities safer for all,’ Mayor Moriarty said.
The Red Rose Foundation is a national not-for-profit providing direct support to survivors of high-risk high-harm domestic violence and recently opened Australia’s first Strangulation Trauma Centre.
