The focus of flood recovery works in Highfields have now moved to Cawdor Drive.

Toowoomba Regional Council Construction and Maintenance portfolio spokesperson Cr Carol Taylor said she was pleased to see the continuation of works in Highfields following the re-opening of Woolmer Road.

“Some minor finishing work is still to be completed on Woolmer Road which is expected to be finished in August with only minor impact to motorists,” Cr Taylor said.

“However, the main focus now will be on culvert replacement works on Cawdor Drive as part of the 2022 Flood Recovery Program,” she said.

“These works will require a closure between Otto Road and Franke Road with a signed detour via Woolmer Road from Old Goombungee Road. These works are expected to be competed in the next three to four months, weather permitting.

“We sincerely thank the residents of Highfields for their patience during these essential flood recovery works, as we work hard at repairing our road network across the region.”

The 2022 Flood Recovery Program in Toowoomba to repair essential public assets is expected to exceed $250 million across the region. The Australian and Queensland governments are providing assistance through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
