Moree Plains Shire Council Receives an Honourable Mention for Employer Support Award from The Australian Defence Force

Moree Plains Shire Council has been recognised for providing flexible working arrangements and support for one of its staff members who is also a reservist in the Royal Australian Air Force.

The Employer Support Awards recognise civilian employers committed to supporting reservists in their workplace. The awards acknowledge employers that have gone above and beyond for their reservist employees, over a sustained period or for a special effort to enable the member to complete their Reserve commitments.

Rebecca English works on strategic economic development projects in Council’s Regional Activation Unit (RAU). She is also a Flight Lieutenant and Military Public Affairs Officer supporting public relations and communication activities for the Air Force.

Rebecca commenced working at Moree Plains Shire Council in 2021 and is the first Air Force Reserve member to be part of the organisation. During that time Council has provided flexible working arrangements and paid leave to enable Rebecca to participate in Defence Force training and military exercises.

The Australian Defence Force provides unique professional development opportunities and training for Rebecca, allowing her to bring those experiences and leadership skills back to the Moree community.
