The Cambridge Library welcomed Paralympic athlete Rhiannon Clarke on Thursday 25 July as a special guest to the children’s Story Time session.
Rhiannon has represented Australia at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 in the women’s 100m T38 event, two World Championships, and won a silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held on the Gold Coast. Rhiannon will be representing Australia at her second Paralympic Games in Paris this August.
Rhiannon kicked off the session by reading “I Want to be a Sports Star” by Mary Anastasiou, a story about dreaming big. Her personal tales about training, dedication, and perseverance echoed the themes in the book.
Rhiannon also read “Koala Lou” by Mem Fox, and “The Big Race” by David Barrow.
Following the stories, Rhiannon led the children in a fun craft activity where they made their own medals.
The event concluded with a lively sing-along, with Rhiannon joining the children in songs that celebrated athleticism and friendship.
Don’t miss out on the fun! Join us for Story Time at Cambridge Library every Tuesday and Thursday at 10.30 am. It’s the perfect opportunity for young children and their families to enjoy stories, songs, and crafts together. See you there!
