The Wyndham Stadium Precinct project reached a major milestone today (11 August) with the plaque unveiling of the name ‘Ironbark Pavilion’ at Ironbark Fields in Tarneit.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Jennie Barrera unveiled the plaque amid celebrations.
“This plaque commemorates our journey in naming this state-of-the-art training facility,” she said.
“The facility’s construction and naming, mark the completion of the first stage of the broader vision for the Wyndham Stadium Precinct.”
“I appreciate the community’s support during the naming process and I am excited to see this stage of the project successfully completed.”
The facility includes three football pitches, a two-storey pavilion and capacity for 5,000 spectators at the main pitch.
“We’re pleased to see the community enjoy the facility as it’s being used as a match-day venue for both A-League Women matches and A-League Men matches until the stadium is built,” Cr Barrera said.
“Following completion of the stadium, the facility will serve as the main training base for Western United Football Club’s A-League teams, NPL and academy teams.”
“Council in partnership with Western Melbourne Group has funded the delivery of Ironbark Fields, which is the first stage of the broader Wyndham Stadium Precinct.”
“Ironbark Fields is a regional rectangle facility which will create opportunities multiple rectangle sports like rugby and gridiron in addition to football to host regional finals and state competition”.
