The Cooby Dam spillway picnic area has re-opened to the public following the completion of landslip repair works to the Cooby Dam Access Road.
The Cooby Dam Access Road works were undertaken as part of the 2022 Flood Recovery Program.
Toowoomba Regional Council Project Services portfolio spokesperson, Cr Gary Gardner, said he is pleased to see the community picnic area reopen for residents to enjoy, now that the landslip adjacent to the access road has been repaired.
“The works included stabilisation of the earthen embankment with engineered soil nails and associated repairs to the road pavement and drainage,” Cr Gardner said.
“The above works are an important part of the 2022 Flood Recovery Program, with assistance provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
“The closure of the picnic area gave an opportunity to also refurbish the barbecue facilities that residents will be able to enjoy.
“Once again, I thank our community for their ongoing patience as we continue to repair our road network as part of the 2022 Flood Recovery Program, which is now more than 75% complete” Cr Gardner said.
