The Shire continues to progress the Residential Aged Care project in Boddington, following
a recent Council decision to endorse the release of a Request for Proposal, to seek a
provider to construct and operate a new Residential Aged Care facility.
The Shire of Boddington has been progressing the planning for this project to address the
increasing demand for residential aged care services. Key steps taken so far include:
Development of an Aged Care Services and Accommodation Strategy, highlighting a significant unmet demand for aged care places in Boddington and surrounding areas. Engagement with potential service providers. Site assessments and acquisition of land within the hospital precinct, ensuring space for a 40+ bed facility. Council approval of incentives to attract providers, and collaboration with the Western Australian Country Health Service (WACHS) to secure land transfers. The Request for Proposal, endorsed by the Aged Care Project Steering Committee in June
2024, and Council in July 2024, seeks a provider to co-design, build, and operate a facility
with a minimum of 45 residences. It outlines incentives, such as access to financial support
and leasing options, to attract high-quality proposals.
The facility is planned to be located within the Hospital Precinct, and will provide significant
social and economic benefits, including job creation, support for local businesses, and
enhanced quality of life for seniors by allowing them to stay within their community.
The Request for Proposal is scheduled to be released by September 2024, with a deadline
for responses in November 2024.
