Council have selected the contractor tasked with delivering the $330,000 upgrade to Tatyoon Oval outlined in Council’s 2024/25 Budget.
The Tatyoon Oval upgrade project aims to upgrade the oval's playing surface, focusing on drainage and irrigation improvements. Enhancing these systems will improve the quality of the playing surface and reduce maintenance requirements. As identified by Active Victoria, this project will also increase participation among disadvantaged and under-represented groups, helping the club achieve its goal of remaining an active part of the Tatyoon and district community. Works of this contract will be completed between October 2024 and January 2025.
The project tender has been awarded to Melbourne-based irrigation specialists Aqualines Irrigation Pty Ltd, a company committed to ensuring high-quality, in-house project completion. Founded on plumbing licensing and compliance, Aqualines prioritise environmental responsibility. Their most recent projects include the 2023 irrigation upgrade at AAMI Park in Melbourne’s Central Business District.
Council have allocated $330,000 in the 2024/25 Capital Works budget to the Tatyoon Oval upgrade, with $250,000 from the Country Football and Netball funding program and $80,000 committed in the Property Capital budget by Council.
“These comprehensive upgrade works are aimed at revitalising Tatyoon Sports Oval into a premier sporting venue within our community,” says Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison. “The project marks a significant step forward in our commitment to supporting local sports and community engagement.”
