“On behalf of Councillors and staff, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the young man who tragically lost his life over the weekend,” said Huon Valley Mayor Sally Doyle.
According to Tasmania Police, “Initial inquiries indicate the 17-year-old was felling trees with his father in the local area when he was struck by a falling branch. Tragically, he died at the scene. His father received non-life-threatening injuries.”
“Support services are freely available to anyone affected by this, or any other tragedy. Council also offers The Right Place program, which provides access to a range of supportive services and resources,” said Mayor Doyle.
