As detailed in a Council media release from 15 August 2024, the current status of the Halls Review is that feedback is being compiled and major themes are being identified to provide to the community for comment.
Huon Valley Council would like to clarify that the Cygnet Town Hall is owned by Council and leases various rooms to community organisations, including the Cygnet Community Hub organisation. While Council conducts the Halls Review and continues engaging with these community organisations during this time, there will be no changes to the agreements currently in place.
“We are working as fast as we can to provide an outcome on this review as it will be used to inform how Council manages halls moving forward,” said Huon Valley Mayor Sally Doyle.
Renovations at the Huon Valley Hub in Huonville are progressing well and the new space will soon be re-opened to the public.
The renovated Hub will be a place the community can book and use on their own, instead of being run and staffed by Council, and newly created office space at the rear of the Hub will accommodate Council staff.
Mayor Doyle said, “Council will advise the community about how this space can be booked and hired in due course, however, should you have questions please contact our friendly customer service team on 6264 0300.”
