Visitor information centre is on the move

Redlands Coast visitor information will be closer to the heart of Cleveland after Redland City Council’s visitor information centre relocates from Raby Bay Harbour to Middle Street in September.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said the relocation of the Redlands Coast Visitor Information Centre to 50 Middle Street, adjoining Cleveland Library, would draw more residents and visitors into Cleveland’s business and cultural hub.

“The visitor information centre’s new site will create a hub that facilitates public access to Cleveland-based Council services such as the Customer Service Centre, Library, Redland Art Gallery and Redland Performing Arts Centre,” the Mayor said.

“The centre is a great source of information for things to see and do on Redlands Coast, either by speaking with one of Council’s friendly staff or picking up a copy of the new Redlands Coast Visitor Guide.

“Last financial year the information centre staff served 6760 customers, either in person or via phone and email.

“The team promotes more than 270 local businesses and experiences and sells locally-produced merchandise to people as gifts and to those wanting to take a small piece of Redlands Coast home with them.

“The centre also provides local maps, Wi-Fi and device charging.”

Division 2 Councillor Peter Mitchell said the relocation would be a win for both residents and visitors.

“The move to Middle Street means the visitor information centre will be in a more prominent location and ideally situated to attract people travelling to Cleveland on their way to North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah,” Cr Mitchell said.

“It will also be more visible to people attending the weekly Cleveland Markets, providing a great opportunity for everyone seeking information on our local attractions or to get recommendations for local restaurants and cultural activities.”

Works on the 50 Middle Street site are expected to be completed by 30 August, conditions permitting.

Redlands Coast Visitor Information Centre will continue to operate from its current location in the Raby Bay Harbour Precinct until Tuesday 3 September and will reopen at 50 Middle Street on Friday 6 September.

On 4 and 5 September, the centre’s services can be accessed online at visitredlandscoast.com.au or by calling 1300 667 386.

Redland City Council has operated the visitor information centre since August 2012, when it was located at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre. It relocated to Raby Bay Harbour in July 2019.

Redlands Coast Visitor Information Centre is open 9am to 4pm daily (except Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Anzac Day, Christmas and Boxing Day).
