Capital Works Program Update - July 2024

Council has an ongoing program of capital works and upgrades to buildings, parks, playgrounds and roads across the Federation Council Region. The following activities were undertaken during July 2024 by Federation Council’s Operations Works teams. 

The teams executed various initiatives, aiming to advance critical projects and address community needs.

 

Federation Way –Block Grant –Heavy Patching

Works completed on high priority areas in the Coreen section, approx. 6000m2.

Table Drain Maintenance

Table drain maintenance focused on customer requests during winter. Please Note: Works are carried out only in zones where no impact can be made on the Sloanes Froglet (between April and October breeding season).

Maintenance Grading

Sealed Roads

Numerous customer requests for pothole repairs on sealed urban and rural roads have been received and actioned with the Corowa based Flocon patching truck and the Urana based Jet Master patching truck. Work is continuous on all roads such as:Federation Way south/north, Jerilderie Road, Boree Creek Road, Urana/Boree/Morundah/Oakland and Rand townships and rural roads.

Quarries

Blast has been undertaken at the Balldale and Daysdale pits to supply gravel for the upcoming works programs.

Balldale – 45,000 tonne blast Davies Hill – 45,000 tonne blast Crushing will commence in August

Maintenance Crew/Sundry Crew

Heavy Trucks

Table drain maintenance Carting stone for patching trucks, Flocon and Jetmaster. Carting excess spoil Corowa Landfill for cover & capping

TfNSW–RMCC

Maintenance works under the RMCC agreement –vegetation control on shoulders - slashing and whipper snipping around guide posts and culverts.

Corowa Aerodrome

Twice weekly inspections carried out to ensure compliance with the MOS 139. Repairs to lights as required.  Herbicide spraying on runway shoulders and around wind indicators.

Covid 19

No Outdoor Operations staff member was affected during July.
