Ararat Rural City Council is continuing its efforts to enhance urban infrastructure, with a new project scheduled to begin shortly (weather permitting).
Key drainage and road renewal works will soon commence on Young Street in Ararat, beginning at the Baird Street end and extending to Dean Street. After these works have been carried out the road will be resurfaced, greatly improving road safety and accessibility. Works are expected to be completed within two weeks, subject to weather conditions.
This vital project is supported by Council’s Capital Works Program which allocates $700,000 towards the Urban Road and Laneway Sealing initiative, specifically targeting improvements to urban gravel roads.
The Urban Road and Laneway Sealing initiative is part of Council’s 2022-32 Asset Plan and aims to evaluate the condition of and develop a long-term plan to maintain key urban unsealed roads and laneways throughout the municipality.
“Maintaining the integrity of our road infrastructure is crucial to ensuring accessibility and community safety” says Dr Tim Harrison, CEO of Ararat Rural City Council. "We’re committed to improving the reliability and safety of our roads through continuous investment in Council’s Capital Works Program.”
