Severe weather event | Update on Council services and closures

Due to the recent severe weather event, a number of Council services have been impacted as noted below.

Contacting the Council

We are currently experiencing telephone outages.

To contact the Works Depot for urgent matters, e.g. trees over roads, please call 0417 598 353.

To contact the Administration Centre, please call 0427 909 801.

Community facilities available at Ulverstone and Riana

Due to power outages, the following facilities are available for amenities and to charge electrical devices.

Ulverstone Sports & Leisure Centre – Flora Street, West Ulverstone 11am-4pm Monday 2 September Please enter via the Squash Club entrance

Riana Community Centre – Pine Road, Riana 3pm – 5pm Monday 2 September

Council staff are monitoring the situation and will provide further updates.

Current road closures (as at 11am Monday 2 September) Allison Road, North Motton – past Purtons Flats Road (as previously advised) Edinborough Road, Abbotsham – at No. 100 Isandula Road, Gawler – Gawler River to Wilsonia Road South Road, Penguin – at No. 667 South Riana Road, Gunns Plains – Winduss Road to Gunns Plains Road (as previously advised)

Other closures Resource Recovery Centre – Lobster Creek Road

Currently closed due to a power outage.  We will advise when the Centre is re-opened.

Sports Grounds

Due to current weather conditions, all Council managed sporting grounds will be closed until further notice.

This measure is to prevent damage to our facilities and ensure safety for all users.
