Severe weather event | Update on Council services and closures (2 September 2024 – 5pm)

Due to the recent severe weather event, a number of Council services have been impacted as noted below.

Contacting the Council

Our previous telephone outage has now been resolved.  Calls can be made as per normal tomorrow during office hours on tel. 6429 8900. 

We encourage the community to use the TasALERT app and website as their primary source of information.

Current road closures (as at 4.30pm Monday 2 September) Allison Road, North Motton – past Purtons Flats Road (as previously advised) Central Castra Road – from Castra Road to Isandula Road Deviation Road, Penguin – between Main Road and Russell Street Edinborough Road, Abbotsham – at No. 100 Isandula Road, Gawler – Central Castra Road to 1054 Isandula Road South Road, Penguin – at No. 667 South Road Sunset Lane, Penguin

Resource Recovery Centre

The Resource Recovery Centre at Lobster Creek Road will be open to the public from tomorrow morning (Tuesday 3 September) within normal operating hours.

At this stage, the site will be running on emergency generator power and will be operating at minimum capacity.  The Resale Shop will not be open.

We will advise further when main power is restored and the Resale Shop re-opens.

Other closures Sports Grounds

Due to current weather conditions, all Council managed sporting grounds will be closed until further notice.

This measure is to prevent damage to our facilities and ensure safety for all users.

We appreciate your understanding and apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
