Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is inviting residents to nominate our communities’ achievers who will be considered for 2025 Toowoomba Region Australia Day awards.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Cr Geoff McDonald is encouraging residents to nominate the Region’s volunteers and community workers for their efforts to serve and support fellow residents.
“Our local government area is fortunate to have hundreds of citizens who devote their time and expertise to running community organisations and events that contribute to all sectors across our Region,” Mayor McDonald said.
“Our community life is enriched by the efforts of the volunteers whose passion and enthusiasm keeps their respective groups running effectively.
“We all know someone who contributes countless hours of assistance and run facilities or events for the benefit of fellow residents. I encourage residents to nominate our true blue achievers.
“It is a fitting reward for any of these people to be nominated and then considered for the various award categories.”
TRC Australia Day organising committee chair Cr James O’Shea supported the Mayor’s call to recognise community-minded citizens.
“The beauty of the awards is that residents can nominate citizens who have gone the extra mile to help their communities,” Cr O’Shea said.
“Taking a few minutes to complete an online nomination form or sending a form to Council is a fitting way to honour someone you know who has stepped up during the past year, or who selflessly volunteers at a community group or organisation. We also have many talented artistic performers and sportspeople who have excelled in their respective fields.”
Cr O’Shea said residents are encouraged to lodge nominations by October 31, 2024, to allow local Australia Day committees time to review and judge categories in readiness for next year’s award presentations.
Cr O’Shea said residents were welcome to complete the online nomination form at www.tr.qld.gov.au/australiaday
