The annual Pink Stumps and Ladies Day was a huge success, with strong support from the community and special guests, including Mayor Janice Moriarty and local MP Lachlan Millar.
The community came out in force, with many dressing up in all things pink to generously fundraise for the McGrath Foundation and local breast care nurses.
While the final fundraising totals are still being finalised, early estimates suggest the event raised over $14,000 for the club, which is a fantastic result for the small and dedicated team.
This year’s event saw the mayor’s XI claim a narrow 2-run victory over the MP’s XI, finishing with an overall score of 112-110.
Club President Craig Harms expressed his gratitude to the many sponsors and the public who made the day possible.
“As a club, we are so thankful to all our sponsors and to the public for giving up their time and coming down to support such a great cause. We really couldn’t do it without everyone getting on board,” he said.
Reflecting on the success of the Pink Stumps and Ladies Day, Mayor Janice Moriarty shared her pride in the community’s involvement and support.
“At the heart of our community are vibrant groups like the Emerald Brothers Cricket Club, many generous sponsors, and the wonderful people who donated their time and enormous efforts to make this event such a huge success,” she continued.
“A special shout-out to those who bravely faced off on the cricket pitch and all those that attended to raise funds for this important and worthy cause!”
“I’m proud to share that the mayor’s team secured a close victory, edging out the MP’s team by just one run. It was a fantastic event, filled with fun and friendly competition.”
The annual event continues to grow each year, and the club looks forward to an even bigger day next year.
