Waste collections – vicinity of recent road closure at 667 South Road, Penguin

Residents in the vicinity of the recent road closure at 667 South Road are advised that waste collections that would normally have been done on Monday (general waste and recycling) will occur FRIDAY 6 September.

Relief centre open for residents impacted by power outages

The following facility will be open Thursday 5 September and Friday 6 September for residents impacted by power outages to use amenities and to charge electrical devices.

Severe Weather Emergency Food Grants

Emergency Food Grants are now available for Tasmanian households that have not had power for 72 hours (3 days) or more.

The purpose of the Emergency Food Grants is to assist impacted households get:

food/groceries meals food delivery services

A one-off payment of $350 is available to impacted households (regardless of how many occupants).

Salvation Army assistance

The Salvation Army is providing support to those affected via their Centre at Ulverstone.  This includes free WiFi, phone charging, hot drinks and emergency assistance.

Rural Relief Fund

Rural and regional businesses impacted by the current weather event can apply for up to $5,000 in emergency financial assistance through the Rural Relief Fund (RRF).

When an unexpected event such as a flood occurs, the need for assistance is immediate.  With human and animal welfare a priority, the RRF, through the provision of emergency grants, can act quickly to support those most affected.
