The Albany community is encouraged to nominate exceptional individuals, organisations, and events for the popular and esteemed 2025 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

The Community Citizen of the Year Awards honour the remarkable and often unrecognised contributions of residents who make Albany a vibrant, compassionate, and caring community.

These awards aim to foster a positive community spirit, acknowledge Albany’s community leaders, and raise awareness of the invaluable, largely voluntary work that takes place within the community.

Celebrating these individuals, organisations, and events, aims to shine a light on the dedication and commitment that enrich our city, inspiring others to get involved and continue building a strong, supportive, and inclusive Albany.

Nominations are now open and close on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

Each year the Awards include five categories:

•Community Citizen of the Year •Annette Knight Leadership Medal •Senior Community Citizen of the Year (65 years or over) •Young Community Citizen of the Year (under 30 years) •Active Citizenship Award (community group or event)

Mayor of Albany Greg Stocks said the awards were a great way to publicly recognise the many selfless people within the community.

“The Community Citizen of the Year Awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary efforts of those who contribute so much to our community,” the Mayor said.

“Whether it's through leadership, volunteer work, or organising impactful events, these individuals and groups play a vital role in making Albany a great place to live.

“I encourage everyone to take the time to nominate those who inspire us all with their dedication and passion.”

Nominations can be completed online at https://www.albany.wa.gov.au/facilities/community/awards.aspx or hard copy nomination forms are available from the City’s Administration Building on North Road.

Award recipients will be announced at the 2025 Australia Day Community Citizen of the Year Awards.
