The project will implement the City's Green Links plan for Marine Terrace, to further connect green corridors of the City and important community precincts.
The funding comes from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) in collaboration with WALGA, as part of the state government’s Urban Greening Grant Program.
The program aims to expand tree canopy and vegetation in high urban heat areas, to help address the impacts of climate change, provide for biodiversity and improve the liveability of neighbourhoods.
Fremantle was one of 14 successful local governments in round two of the three-year grant program.
Collectively these local governments will plant more than 18,000 trees and 93,000 understorey species in winter 2025, with the majority being WA native species.
