Meringandan-Shirley Road at Highfields will close to the public for culvert replacement works across the school holidays from 6pm on Friday, September 13 to Saturday, September 21, 2024 inclusive, weather permitting.
Toowoomba Regional Council Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokesperson, Cr Carol Taylor, said the culvert replacement was scheduled to coincide with the school holidays to minimise the disruption to the community while the essential repair works are being undertaken.
“Residents can expect Meringandan-Shirley Road, pictured, to be closed between Woolmer Road and Browne Road, with a combination of day and night works to be undertaken,” Cr Taylor said.
“Detours will be in place via Highfields Road and Gowrie-Lilyvale Road. All residents and motorists are encouraged to plan for additional travel time and adhere to detour routes to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
“Council appreciates that road closures can be disruptive and inconvenient, and we thank residents in advance for their patience and understanding as we complete these flood-related repair works.
“Motorists are encouraged to take care around road work sites, adhere to signage and follow directions of traffic management personnel to ensure we all get home safely.
“These works are an important part of the 2022 Flood Recovery Program, with assistance provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).”
