The City of Wanneroo Council has endorsed its Road Safety Management Plan 2024-2030, committed to reducing road trauma and enhancing safety on the local road network throughout the City.
The Plan aligns with the State Government’s road safety strategy, Driving Change 2020-2030 and is based on the safe system approach towards road safety.
The safe system principles look at the design of roads and roadsides, travel speeds, vehicles and road users, as well as ways to reduce the amount and severity of crashes.
Mayor Linda Aitken said Council is pleased to support a long-term strategic direction to road safety in the City.
“Road safety is an important public health issue facing all streams of government,” she said.
“Saving more lives depends on an important cultural shift towards greater acceptance of road safety as everybody’s responsibility.
“This plan demonstrates our ongoing commitment to reducing the risks of accidents and improving road safety for all.”
