Lithgow City Council has received funding from the NSW Government’s Fixing Country Bridges program to replace timber bridges within the Lithgow LGA, the next bridge to be replaced in this program is the one on Red Hill Road in Upper Turon which is commencing construction from tomorrow 12/09/2024
This timber bridge has reached the end of it’s service life and will be replaced with a reinforced concrete replacement. The replacement of this bridge will offer improved safety and reliability, reduced maintenance costs, and increased fire resistance, ensuring ongoing access in the event of bushfire.
Works are expected to take 16 weeks (weather permitting) and will be carried out by Bridge Check Australia Pty Ltd on behalf of Lithgow City Council.
Detours will be in place at the site, using a constructed side track for vehicles. This detour will be single-lane, and traffic control measures will be in place.
Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time when using this detour.
Council appreciates the community’s patience during these works.
