123 Woodcutters Road, Tolmans Hill
The Hobart City Council Planning Committee has approved a development application for alterations to parking area and landscaping at 123 Woodcutters Road, Tolmans Hill.
The proposal includes a dry-stone retaining wall setback, a gravel area, and a synthetic grass sitting area.
30-34 Grays Road Fern Tree and adjacent road reserve and Pipeline Track (100 Pinnacle Road, Wellington Park)
The Hobart City Council Planning Committee has approved a development application for a dwelling, carport, and studio at 30-34 Grays Road, Fern Tree, and adjacent road reserve and Pipeline Track (100 Pinnacle Road, Wellington Park).
The development includes a three-storey dwelling, connected to a proposed single-storey studio by an elevated deck.
The proposed covered carport would provide car parking for two vehicles on an elevated deck, and include a storage shed below.
Vehicular access to the carport would be via a new crossover constructed on Grays Road.
Minor stormwater works will be carried out on the Pipeline Track.
Medium Density Design Guidelines and Improving Residential Standards in Tasmania – Draft City of Hobart Submissions
The City of Hobart has provided feedback on the State Government’s draft Medium Density Design Guidelines and Improving Residential Standards in Tasmania.
These initiatives aim to improve housing design and support the development of a more compact, well-designed city.
The City supports the Guidelines and Standards, with some recommendations for further improvement.
While the Guidelines focus on terrace and townhouse developments, the City suggests including more variety in medium density examples such as low-rise apartments.
Additionally, the City supports new planning controls proposed in the Standards around plot ratios, building heights, solar access, and open spaces.
Officer level Development applications approved between 16 August 2024 to 4 September 2024
Each fortnight the City's Planning Officers are busy reviewing a range of residential and commercial development applications for Hobart.
This fortnight, 33 development applications delegated to council officers were also approved while 16 development applications are currently being advertised.
A reminder that the Council has a planner on duty during office hours which members of the community can call through our Customer Services to check to see whether any development or work to a garden will require planning approval.
