Controlled risk mitigation burn - Edge Hill

Cairns Regional Council wishes to advise a controlled risk mitigation burn will be conducted in Edge Hill, behind the Edge Hill State School, tomorrow (19 September).

Weather dependant, the burn will commence at 10am and conclude no later than 3.30pm.

The footpath along Saltwater Creek, from Pease Street to Russell Street, will be closed for the day.

This controlled burn is part of Council’s fire prevention and hazard reduction program for the natural areas surrounding Cairns, and has been timed during the school holidays to avoid disruption to normal school operations.

Members of the public are asked to be aware of potential smoke hazards during the controlled burn and drive to the conditions.
