Earlier this month, the Pelverata Hall held a special celebration to honour Chester and Biddy Duggan, who have volunteered on the hall committee for over 50 years, including managing the bookings.
Many friends and family members gathered at the hall to celebrate them, including Mayor Sally Doyle and Councillor Armstrong.
A beautiful plaque was made by friends of the Pelverata Hall to be installed as a heartfelt thank you for Chester and Biddy’s exceptional contribution. Additionally, Mayor Doyle presented the couple with a certificate of appreciation and flowers.
After the original hall was destroyed in the 1967 fires, Chester and Biddy emerged as community leaders, playing a vital role in rebuilding relationships and managing the new hall for the Pelverata community, all while raising their six children. They have been a shining example of how communities can unite and support each other during challenging times.
Although they have chosen to reduce their involvement, Biddy has assured everyone that she will be “keeping an eye on what’s going on”…
Huon Valley Council sincerely thanks Chester and Biddy for their exceptional dedication to the Pelverata Hall and community. Your contributions are greatly appreciated, and we trust the committee will transition smoothly.
