A wonderful group of 20 people were conferred with Australian Citizenship during a ceremony at Burnie Arts on Tuesday, 17 September (Australian Citizenship Day)
Mayor Teeny Brumby was the presiding officer for the ceremony and welcomed our newest citizens.
"What an incredible evening celebrating the newest members of our Australian family! Tonight, we had the privilege of witnessing individuals from various walks of life officially become citizens of this beautiful country. Welcome ‘home’ to each of you!
“Your journey to this moment is a testament to your courage, commitment, and love for Australia, and we are so proud to have you as part of our community. May this next chapter be filled with opportunity, joy, and a deep sense of belonging.
“Thank you for choosing to make Australia - and Burnie - your home. Together, we will continue to build a strong and vibrant community,” Mayor Brumby said.
A sincere thank you to Gavin Pearce, who stood in for Minister Andrew Giles, for attending the Citizenship Ceremony and presenting recipients with Australian-themed gifts to commemorate this special occasion.
